Keith Bryan Haw‘s customized Porsche Cayman S has definitely attracted a LOT of attention not just in car shows and magazines, but across the interwebs as well. And since our last post and wallpaper about this car, we’ve gone out to do a well deserved all-out photoshoot.
Moreover, we’ve interviewed Keith to find out his story about how he got into the car tuning game, and his journey with what is arguably the world’s ultimate Porsche Cayman S.
So read on to see the rest of the story, and enjoy the awesome photos…
CPR: Hi Keith, how long have you been into modifying cars? And why did you choose the Porsche Cayman S?
KBH: Well I’ve been modifying cars ever since I was in high school. From Civic EK, to Honda Accord with IASCA Competition Setup and Nitrous, to a Lexus IS with the first Twin Turbo Engine Swap Supra Engine, to my Silvia S14 all out drift car.
I sold my modified Z4 for this Porsche because I saw a Cayman Techart Bodykit in Orchard Road Singapore while on a vacation. I loved the lines of that aftermarket Bodykit and I knew from then on I wanted a Cayman S with a Techart kit.
But the one I saw was textbook catalogue style all Techart setup Cayman which was popular back then. Typical all Hamann, AC, Breyton, Carlsson etc… Something not different from the rest and too common for me. So I made the decision to make it stand out from the rest.
That time the flush and stance scene was just new and there’s only a few who are doing it back then so I decided to do it super concave and super flush and this is not typical for a Porsche or even a car in our country back then.
Then I wanted to mix and match all the brands to make it a complete car but getting the best one from a particuar brand. Like for example dpe wheels cuz I’m the distributor and I’m a good friend with the owners
I knew I wanted a forged wheel custom one off set. I know techart wheels has a weak offset and I think it’s not forged so by doing 20s it will give me the stance I wanted but without sacrificing the performance aspect.
Also for the performance parts some gives a better hp output compared to other brands that’s why I mixed it up. For the look of the car just a simple contrast with silver and matte black paint was the one I wanted. I forgot to mention I asked Roland Gavino to wash over my car with the same color even thou the car was in Preston’s condition because you will never get it color matched with the new aftermarket Bodykit and parts.
I also made the wheels like that because I wanted it to pop out and be loud as my Bodykit to compliment it but not to be over if you know what I mean. I also wanted the interior to look and sound nice that’s why I put minimal mods like sounds and simple touches like painted center console so I feel it’s livable and drivable the way a Porsche/sports car should be.
CPR: Looks like you’ve finally completed all the modifications you’ve wanted for the Cayman. Any other ongoing project cars in your stable? Other Euro cars perhaps?
KBH: I began euro with a BMW E46 Hamann with DPE rims etc.. Then a Z4 with DPE then I went with Lexus IS300 for my daily but I missed driving a BMW so I got a new project E92 M3 coupe. That will be fully modded as well. Actually some parts already arrived such as the intake, LCI Tail Lights, KW Coilovers, Meisterschaft Exhaust and DPE wheels next month. More to come (laughs).
I still love my Cayman and I really got it for it’s cornering and balanced feel. It’s the best handling Porsche you can buy but having a E92 M3 same level and handling car. I will sell my Cayman S maybe next year or next next for a Porsche Turbo so I will have the best of both worlds. One Turbo and one N/A machine. I miss turbo cars like my previous Lexus IS and Silvia.
That’s my story! Still gonna do my usual selling of DPE wheels and other performance parts for exotics and do it agressive/flush coz it makes the car look meaner and wider. My kind of style and look but with speed. Not super flush and negative camber because that is not driveable anymore (laughs).
CPR: Awesome story! Thank you for sharing! One last thing. Do you have a name for your car?
KBH: Yeah! Olivia.
